What makes it different, and so compelling, is its attempt to convey the horrors implicit in the whole idea of “dungeon crawling,” both through its mood, art and game mechanics, which combine random quirks and perks with a “Stress” counter that builds over time during each run. Jester always was the best stress-healer in the game, so if you're taking him specifically for that purpose, Bright Tam means he does it better and doesn't have to worry about his own stress over-much, but it's not a mandatory item and his stress-heal is already powerful without it if you'd prefer to spec for more damage, but definitely a massive boon in Endless Mode, and the Crimson Court if (like me) you complete the maps in one go.Darkest Dungeon, a massive Kickstarter success now on Early Access through Steam, is at its heart a fairly basic roguelike, albeit one with party tactics and comparatively persistent characters. Even outside of those zones, any player trying to be safe will have the torch kept above 75% most of the time.īright Tambourine is a go-to item for many situations, as are quite a few other 'Bright' trinkets, like the Sun Ring and Heaven's Hairpin, which work similarly. Increased stress if torch is low.Īs said above, +15% stress doesn't apply in 100% light zones, so you ALWAYS get the passive stress (intake) reduction and his stress skill (which is what you take him for in the first place) is improved by 20%. +15% Stress if Torch below 51 - The reverse. 25% Stress if Torch above 75 - Stress of all types inflicted on the Jester are reduced by 25%. +20% Stress Skills - Skills, not in general. Bright Tambourine is a fantastic trinket, especially since the addition of zones that are always considered to be at 100% light (Crimson Court & Endless DLC's), so the benefits are up at all times there.
